Mindfulness Fatigue…

Changing the way we think about Mindfulness

We've been seeing a lot of articles out there giving advice on how to stay sane and healthy during the ongoing pandemic. I'm always eager to read them because what we're dealing with is hard and I could definitely use some new ideas on how to manage my mental and physical wellness. Recently, I've started to find myself getting annoyed with seeing the same vague mindfulness tips over and over again. Take deep breaths. Start a daily meditation. Work yoga into your routine. Granted, it's good advice, but it's a lot easier said than done. And if I haven't inserted mindfulness into my self-care routine already, I'm probably hitting some road blocks and need a little help or an extra push to get there.

Mindfulness hit the mainstream a few years ago and most folks are familiar with the traditional and formal practices (breathing meditations, yoga, tai chi, etc). What's not talked about as often are all the other ways we can practice mindfulness. Specifically during activities, tasks, and chores we're already doing each day. So let's start thinking about and talking about mindfulness differently. Then we can actually start practicing mindfulness in ways that work for us.

Tune in to our most recent podcast on Mindfulness, Part 1 of a 3 part series that dips beneath the surface of wellness in the digital age to explore the inner (deeper) work.

Mindfulness +

In the spirit of expanding our definition of mindfulness, consider how you might use a fun activity to engage your senses and connect more deeply with the world around you. One great option is a scavenger hunt. They're a great way to sharpen our focus and attention on different sights and sounds. You can create your own for free or buy one for a few dollars online. We've got a variety on our Etsy store and just released a Halloween Themed outdoor scavenger hunt!
